There is nothing like a hollow log! It smells fabulous, it looks phenomenal, it’s fun to be inside it, and it is certainly a VERY natural play element. We are SO happy we can make these available to you again!

Kids get to see wood grain and growth rings up close, see how branches connect to the tree trunk, and even see what a tree looks like on the inside as it grew!

Hollow Logs are made from log chunks that would normally be ground into mulch or sent to the landfill. and there is very little waste during manufacturing, so our Hollow Logs are sustainable and renewable!

Keep in mind, that just as each tree is different, each of the hollow logs is different, which means that each one is uniquely-shaped on the outside -- which is why it’s such a fabulous addition to your playground!!

Hollow Logs come in various lengths and diameters, so make sure you choose the perfect ones for all your kids!! However, please keep in mind that all dimensions are approximate. For instance, the 48 inch diameter log can vary between 44 inches and 50 inches. There may be similar variations in all the other hollow logs.

A NOTE about sap:

All trees have sap. It’s the liquid that circulates inside the tree to distribute water and nutrients. It’s how they feed themselves. It’s the “blood” of a tree.

Some sap is sticky, such as pine sap, but large diameter pine trees are the best for making our Hollow Logs, so you’re going to see and maybe feel some pitch.

But sap will eventually dry up or crystallize. One solution for dealing with sticky sap is to cover it with corn starch or other organic powder, which will immediately make those areas less sticky. Reapply as necessary. If kids get sap on their hands, put a little corn starch on them, too!

To remove sap? Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is the chemical ingredient that breaks down and removes the resin.

Hand sanitizers contain it, so use it to remove tree sap from almost anything, including the paint on your car. Just be sure you try it on a small, unnoticeable area of the surface before you go to town on whatever it is you're cleaning.

For clothing or fabric, gently scrape off as much as you can, then rub the spots with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol until it lifts off, and wash as usual.

PS There is a lead time of between 3 and 8 weeks depending on whether we have them in stock or they have to be made, but they are WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!

Maintenance: You may notice occasional mold growing on the surfaces of the log. This is completely normal. A mixture of 1:1 bleach and water will wipe it away!

Lastly, these are heavy items, so we ship them by freight. If you don’t have a loading dock, ask the shipper for a lift gate which will lower the pallet to the ground. If that’s not possible, get lots of strong people to help unload. The bigger ones might weigh up to 500 pounds.

But they are well worth the weight :))
